Barbara Bowden Gibson

Rochester: June 21, 2017, age 85. Predeceased by her husband Richard C. Gibson and her brother William Bowden. Survived by sons Mark (Melissa) Gibson, Matthew (Patricia) Gibson, daughter Karla Gibson Raleigh (George Schnell); step-daughter Susan (Wesley) Pittenger; grandchildren Corey (Amy), Adam (Heather), Heather (Joe Hale) and Josh (Emily McMulle) Gibson and Austin Raleigh; 7 great-grandchildren and close family friend Gayle Gibson. Barbara was born and raised in Rochester. She met her husband Richard while they both worked for American Airlines, and they married in 1962. They lived and raised their family in West Henrietta. She was an artist who studied at RIT, and participated for years in many local craft fairs and festivals. She was an avid bird watcher and lover of the outdoors and nature, and her favorite place was the family camp tucked away in the woods of northern New York. She was a gardener, and both she and Richard enjoyed growing and cultivating plants and trees. Most of all she was a devoted wife and mother to her family. There will be a private memorial service held at a later date. Barbara was a devoted dog lover, so if you wish to remember her, please consider making a donation to Lollypop Farm animal shelter in her name.
